The competition on users attention is fierce, and social apps have to think of ever better ways to stand out from the crowd. As I see it, it all comes down to finding the perfect feedback loop. Think of it as a device which is main purpose is to conduct electricity. the frictionless it is – the better for its users.


If filters are the brick and mortar of Instagram, the feedback loop is its engine. This is what drives engagement to this product, which otherwise would have been ended up like Hipstematic or other utilities for creative people: Nice to have but not a habit forming product.
